3 sections
Cancellation
- Allowed within 24 hours of generation.
- Not allowed if the EWB has been verified in transit by an officer.
- Once cancelled, the EWB number can't be used again. Generate a new one if the goods still move.
Rejection by the recipient
- The recipient (or the person named in it) can reject the EWB within 72 hours of generation or before delivery, whichever is earlier.
- If they don't act, it is deemed accepted.
- Reject when you never ordered the goods or the details are wrong — it protects you from someone else's movement being linked to your GSTIN.
Extension
- Allowed only in the window 8 hours before to 8 hours after expiry.
- Give the reason (breakdown, transshipment, accident, law and order, natural calamity) and the current place and remaining distance.
- Can be extended multiple times, but the total life of an EWB cannot go beyond 360 days from original generation.
- Missed the window? The EWB can't be extended; generate a new one.
